Internationalisation is part of the strategic quality assurance work for education at the Disciplinary Domain. Through global collaborations, student and staff exchanges, and international perspectives in teaching, we create opportunities for students and staff to face an increasingly globalised healthcare sector.
Internationalisation prize
The medical faculties’ prize for the internationalisation of higher education aims to encourage teachers and teaching teams to work towards greater internationalisation.

The Disciplinary Domain is offering a series of workshops on cultural competence for Medfarm students, doctoral students and staff.
Staff mobility
As an employee of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, you can participate in staff exchange programmes both within and outside Europe.

The medical faculties of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Uppsala University have much in common and have been exchanging valuable experiences for many years.
Medfarm’s Programme-Wide Internationalisation Group (PIGG)
PIGG is an internationalisation network for the Disciplinary Domain’s educational programmes. The aim is to facilitate the exchange of experiences, external analysis and the identification of needs in international education matters.

Internationalisation for students
ReadySetGo! – preparing students for going abroad
ReadySetGo! is a course intended to prepare students for periods abroad and strengthen their intercultural competence and awareness, for both safety and ethical reasons.
The course is part of the Disciplinary Domain’s efforts to promote responsible internationalisation, and the committees for undergraduate and Master’s education (GRUNK and GRUFF) have decided that all students participating in international mobility as part of their studies must take it.
ReadySetGo! was developed in collaboration with the other Swedish medical faculties within the NIMUS network (Network for the Internationalisation of Medical Education in Sweden). It is available via self-registration in ReadySetGo! in Studium, and upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate.
Certificate of International Merits
Certificate of International Merits (CIM) is a system for recognising students’ international achievements. The certificate serves as a way of validating and demonstrating international competence to, for example, employers.
The system is based on students continuously recording their activities (such as international exchanges, projects or courses) in CIM in Studium. By participating in activities with an international dimension – both within and outside their regular programme – they can document them in a digital portfolio.
To qualify, a student must have completed at least one activity in the three categories of international mobility, intercultural competence and global learning. The programme’s international coordinator can then award a CIM.
Through CIM, students develop international and intercultural competence, establish networks and gain global perspectives and experiences relevant to their future careers.

VASCERN Summer School
VASCERN Summer School is a summer school on rare cardiovascular diseases. It is primarily aimed at medical students, master’s students, and doctoral students, and seeks to increase knowledge while building a European network of future experts in the field.
The summer school is organised by VASCERN, a European Reference Network funded by the EU that brings together specialist clinics, researchers, and patient organisations to improve care and knowledge of rare vascular diseases. The course is delivered in collaboration with a hospital in Paris, and student mobility is funded through Erasmus+.
