Temporary home work

The main rule is that you must carry out your work on university premises. Decisions on temporary work at another location in Sweden, e.g. from home, are made by the head of department/manager/equivalent based on the needs of the activity and based on an individual assessment.

The employer has the main responsibility for the work environment (including follow-up) even when working temporarily at another location. Those who work at another location are responsible for pointing out any shortcomings in the work environment to the head of department/equivalent.

Occupational injury insurance for temporary home work

If you injure yourself at work, you may be eligible for compensation from occupational injury insurance. The insurance also applies to temporary home-based work. The accident/injury must be directly related to your work and not predominantly caused by private life. The Swedish Social Insurance Agency handles and decides on compensation for occupational injuries.

As a government employee, you are also covered by the Agreement on Compensation for Personal Injury (PSA, Afa Insurance). The insurance also applies to temporary work from home. Unlike work at the workplace, when working from home, the accident must be directly related to the work you are doing. This means that the injury must have occurred while you were performing a work task. In addition, the accident must not be predominantly due to your private life.

Any damage to your home caused by your employer's property (e.g. a computer) is covered by your own home insurance. For information on the extent to which your own home insurance covers this type of damage, you should contact your own insurance company.

Work-related injuries and incidents that occur in connection with working from home must be reported in accordance with applicable procedures. Other insurance policies apply to business trips or URA.
