Safety inspections

Safety inspection

Safety inspection is a way of controlling your work environment. It is an important part of the systematic work environment management. The result of a safety inspection form a good basis for the departments/equivalent written action plan for measures to improve the work environment.

To conduct a safety inspection

The employer is responsible for safety inspections being carried out. In the event of a safety inspection the head of department/equivalent and the safety representative should participate. The work environment group at the department/equivalent should also be a part of the safety inspection. It is also advisable to have a representative for the cleaning staff participating.

The safety inspection should be carried out at least yearly or when necessary, e.g. after moving to new facilities.

A safety inspection is preferably carried out by the participants when walking around the work place with the purpose of detecting any faults or deficiencies in the work environment. However, some parts of the safety inspection can be done at a sitting table.
