Working group to produce proposals to facilitate the use of AI in teaching
The Vice-Chancellor has decided to appoint a University-wide working group for AI in teaching, whose task is to submit proposals on the development and use of AI to support quality, relevance and learning in the University’s teaching.
New AI model improves MS diagnostics
To provide the right treatment for MS, it is important to know when the disease changes from relapsing-remitting to secondary progressive, a transition that is currently recognised on average three years too late. Researchers at Uppsala University have now developed an AI model that can determine with 90 per cent certainty which variant the patient has.

Announcement of Educational Development Funds PUMA
To support pedagogical development work at the University, the Vice-Chancellor annually announces project funding. The total amount is SEK 2,000,000 for 2025. This year, special attention is given to projects aimed at addressing educational challenges related to AI.
Young researchers are invited to collaborate on AI
Matchmaking event with the aim of giving young researchers the opportunity to visit another research group. The goal is to initiate new collaborations or continue ongoing ones, where AI plays a central role.
Guidelines on generative AI in teaching
The University now has its first University-wide guidelines on AI in teaching. The guidelines will come into effect on 20 January 2025 and
applies to education at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral studies.
Ola Spjuth appointed SciLifeLab AI lead
Ola Spjuth, Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences at Uppsala University, has recently been appointed SciLifeLab AI lead. Together with the SciLifeLab Director and Co-Director, he will now start developing a national AI strategy for SciLifeLab.
