Equal opportunities
The Faculty of Science and Technology’s Equal Opportunities Committee has overall responsibility for initiatives concerning equal opportunities. However, most of the work is carried out at the faculty’s departments. Each department has an equal opportunities representative and an equal opportunities group.
The faculty also has two equal opportunities coordinators focusing on equal opportunities for students with disabilities and/or other special needs.
The Equal Opportunities Committee produces an annual action plan for the faculty’s equal opportunities initiatives.

Equal opportunities representative
Much of the equal opportunities work is done at departmental level. Each department must have an equal opportunities representative who, among other things, supports the head of department and the department board in their work on equal opportunities.
In February 2019, the faculty board adopted a remit for the departments' equal opportunities representatives.
Equal opportunities projects 2025
The Faculty of Science and Technology is announcing a call for SEK 400,000 for equal opportunities projects. Both staff and students working at the faculty can apply for the funding.
The Equal Opportunities Committee welcomes applications that focus on actions in the field of equal opportunities and preferably applications that address several areas of equal opportunities.
Applications should be sent to faculty officer Marie Lindström. The deadline for applications is 9 May 2025. Applications must be signed by the head of department/equivalent at the applicant’s department/equivalent.

Mentorship programme
In 2024–2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology is offering a mentorship programme for young researchers at the beginning of an independent research career. The programme is intended to support researchers (research assistants, associate senior lecturers, postdoctoral researchers, researchers) in their development through personal mentoring, series of seminars and the networking that the programme entails. The aim of the programme is to increase the proportion of senior lecturers and professors of underrepresented gender in the faculty by increasing the number of qualified applicants for such positions.
Who can participate in the mentorship programme?
The programme is aimed at researchers with PhDs working at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University but not yet employed as senior lecturers. The number of places is limited and the selection will take into account motivation, merits, goal achievement and, if possible, even distribution across the faculty’s departments. Participants will be matched with mentors in spring 2024 and the first meetings will take place before summer 2024. Regular seminar meetings are planned throughout the programme, which runs until September 2025. The programme coordinator is Erik Holmqvist.
Application
The application for participation in the mentorship program for 2024 is now closed.
