Venture Track is a targeted initiative for researchers and doctoral students at Uppsala University who are ready to take the next step towards commercialisation. It is not a traditional business development programme. Rather, it is a project‑tailored track focused on executing your innovation plan and beginning the company‑building process.
A track designed to turn your plan into reality
Venture Track is intended for projects that have already advanced through early‑stage support from UU Innovation. Here, the emphasis is on execution — testing, building and structuring what is required to transform a promising idea into a viable company.
The track is fully adapted to your project and prepares you for continued commercialisation in company form. We provide operational resources and funding, supporting your project until agreed commercial and company‑building milestones are achieved.
UU Innovation and UU Invest
Venture Track is a collaboration between UU Innovation and UU Invest AB, combining hands‑on support, company‑building and investment to create sustainable, investment‑ready companies based on research at Uppsala University.

Your role
Venture Track is a collaborative effort. As an innovator, you are expected to take an active role in the commercial development of your project — especially in the early phases. This includes contributing your expertise and participating in joint meetings and decision‑making.
Your role will be defined together with us and shaped by your ambitions — whether you intend to remain in academia or take part in the future company.
Is Venture Track right for you?
You may be a good fit for Venture Track if:
- You are a researcher or doctoral student at Uppsala University
- You have a research‑based idea evaluated together with UU Innovation
- Your idea has clear commercial potential, and a commercialisation plan is in place
- You are motivated to explore commercialisation and company‑building
- You are open to UU Invest AB becoming a minority owner if a company is formed.
Selection and structure
A limited number of projects are admitted on a rolling basis. Selection is based on how well the project aligns with Venture Track’s focus, including: market potential, scalability, unique advantages, commercialisation conditions (such as ownership and IP), team motivation, and readiness to engage external investors.
