About the course

In this course, you write an independent project of 15 credits in Swedish or English about a topic in Chinese linguistics, cultural history or social sciences concerning China or an area where Chinese is spoken (see the syllabus for more information on possible topics). Approximately 30 pages of your source material must be in Chinese.

Chinese D2 also contains two language courses: Factual Texts II with Oral and Written Proficiency IV, 7,5 credits, where you, for instance, read Chinese newspapers and factual texts written in modern Chinese, and discuss as well as make presentations of the contents. The course also consists of a presentation of your independent project, a discussion with your peers about the same and the writing of an abstract, all in Chinese. The main objective of the course is to practice your oral proficiency in modern Chinese.

Classical Chinese, 7,5 credits, consists of, with the use of dictionaries, reading and interpreting original excerpts from the Chinese classics, philosophical and historical writings, as well as Tang poetry and Song lyric poetry in classical Chinese.
