About the course

The course is specifically aimed at foreign exchange students enrolled at Uppsala University who are relatively proficient in the Swedish language. You have learned the basics through participating in and passing Basic Swedish 2 or equivalent studies. Basic Swedish 3 gives you a more profound knowledge of the Swedish language through teacher-led training and to an extent self-instruction.

The course deepens your knowledge of Swedish language structure, vocabulary and writing skills. The course also includes assignments to improve your listening comprehension and the ability to express your oral and written skills. All these parts are taught parallelly throughout the course.

The courses' texts and themes focus on areas like spare time, lifestyle, government, politics, the history of Sweden and the Nordic countries, tourism, and travel.

Taking the course also entails the opportunity to get to know and study with other international students. The passed course gives you 7.5 credits and you will be at the B1 level on the CEFR scale.

It is necessary for the applicant to be enrolled at Uppsala University and registered in the student register (Ladok) of their main department before an application can be granted.
