About the course
The course is intended for teachers of English at the primary or secondary level or in adult education within the Swedish school system.
In this course the focus is on the English-speaking world and English as a global language, as well as the impact of English within international and multicultural contexts, and how this affects the teaching of English in years 4-6. Texts in a variety of different genres and other materials from the English-speaking world, children's literature, non-fiction texts, digital media, film, music, drama activities, games, etcetera, will be analysed and discussed with didactic perspectives. There will be a special emphasis on the use of ICT in the teaching of English.
You will apply theoretical and practical knowledge in your development and presentations of themes and lesson plans for a diverse and creative English classroom, including international perspectives. The course also contains discussions about democracy, sustainable development, gender, ethnicity and human rights in a global context, and how these issues relate to the teaching of English to young learners.
