What is a programme syllabus?
A syllabus for a programme contains provisions on the prior knowledge requirements, the courses contained in the programme and the degree to which it leads. A programme syllabus should be produced for each programme.
The programme syllabus is approved by the faculty responsible for the programme and may change from semester to semester.
The programme syllabus may be accompanied by a study plan ("outline") that describes the course of study in more detail.
Which programme syllabus applies?
Each programme syllabus or study plan indicates the semester from which it is valid. The provisions of the programme syllabus apply to programmes starting in that semester and the entry requirements apply to its admission process.
As a student, you follow the programme syllabus in effect during the semester in which you started the programme. If you are granted leave from studies, it may be necessary to switch to a more recent programme syllabus.
The study plan that applies to you depends on how your programme makes use of study plans. You follow either the study plan in effect during the semester in which you started the programme or the study plan that takes effect in the autumn semester of the current academic year.
As programme syllabuses are finalised well in advance, the latest syllabus may not yet have taken effect. Therefore, always check which semester the programme syllabus is valid for to make sure that its specifications apply to you.
