How did you choose your programme?
– After completing my bachelor's, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and explore new cultures and environments. I searched across Europe for a Master's programme that aligned with my passion for renewable technologies and this programme at Uppsala University matched my academic and personal goals perfectly.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The best part is the vibrant international community, you get to study and make friends with people from all over the world, not just Sweden. It really broadens your perspective, both academically and personally.

Was there anything you found difficult or surprising when you started your studies at Uppsala University?
– I was surprised by how friendly people become once you get to know them, and how approachable and informal the interaction with teachers is. It creates a very supportive learning environment.

Describe the student life!
– Student life is dynamic—you can attend both formal and informal events organised by student associations, study with friends in section houses, or hang out at the Nations. The sections are very active and promote sports, cultural events, and more to help you enjoy your time at the university. And if you want you can also get involved in the section by applying to be a member of the board (like being the International Representative)!!

Name three things you are doing this week
– Studying for exams, rehearsing with the University Orchestra, and enjoying the sunny weather playing volleyball with friends.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– My goal is to gain the skills and knowledge needed to enter the renewable energy industry and contribute to the green transition.

What advice would you give to someone considering applying for this programme?
– Arrive early if you can, it really helps to settle into the city before the semester starts, you can also visit the city and do some activities organised by the students. And don't hesitate to ask for help; people here are kind and always willing to support you.

What is your favourite place in Uppsala?
– I love Ångströmlaboratoriet, it's just outside the city, surrounded by forest, and perfect for both studying and relaxing in the sun. Otherwise, if you want to go for a walk or a run surrounded by nature, I recommend the area between Flogsta, Haga and Eriksberg.

Where is the best place to study?
– Campus Ångströmlaboratoriet offers many great study spots: the library, Makerspace, booths, large tables on floor 1 and in the basement, the silent rooms or even the staircase! You can always find a place that matches your mood and study style.

Do you have any final reflections or comments?
– One more thing that helped me choose this university and programme is the strong support from both the University and the student associations. They actively organise seminars and networking events with companies, which really helps you shape your future and career path.

How did you choose your programme?
– In selecting my Master's programme, I started by analysing countries that offer not only academic learning but also an enriching living experience. I then explored various international rankings to identify a university that seamlessly aligns with my long-term career goals. Finally, I discussed my decision with colleagues.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– Uppsala University is an international university that provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Being a student here allows for personal and professional growth, as well as the chance to engage in various cultural activities, further enriching the overall experience.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala?
– When I arrived in Uppsala, the weather was sunny and the city looked vibrant with colourful surroundings and a bright sky. I remember thinking what a beautiful city it was. The abundance of flowers took me by surprise, and I was amazed at how the river could be so beautiful with its blooming flowers and vivid colours.

Name three things you are doing this week!
– This week, I will be going to class, hiking with a group of friends, and attending my Swedish class.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– I decided to study to acquire more technical skills. My goal is to be able to work in a specific field—to provide reliable and affordable energy, always using renewable sources and consistently mitigating environmental impact. Consequently, I aim to settle in areas where I can bring about positive change.

What is your best experience so far?
– My best experience has been the opportunity to meet good friends during my Master's programme, sharing in academic pursuits, hobbies, and extracurricular activities, and embarking on various adventures, such as going to a camp near Kiruna.

What is your favourite place in Uppsala?
– The corner located at the intersection of S:t Olofsgatan and Östra Ågatan.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
– I see myself working with multidisciplinary teams at a company that specialises in projects related to planning and implementing renewable energy sources. This could involve integrating such sources into existing electrical systems, both in urban cities and rural areas, particularly in isolated regions.

Where is the best place to study?
– The first floor of house 10 at the Ångström laboratory campus.

We all know that global warming is a big issue now and generating electricity from renewable resources could be one of the major responses to mitigate such climate damage.

Where do you work now?
– I am working at Hitachi Energy as Project Engineer for HVDC system design. My responsibility includes Electrical design of high voltage apparatus and performing insulation co-ordination study of HVDC stations.

What does the labour market look like, was it easy to find a job?
– From my point of view, the labour market is promising. If someone actively looks for opportunities, he/she shall be able to find jobs related to their interests.

What made you choose to study renewable energy?
– I had this fascination towards renewable energy and I knew that this field would play a major role in the future electricity market. We all know that global warming is a big issue now and generating electricity from renewable resources could be one of the major responses to mitigate such climate damage. This program seemed to be exciting where you got to learn both the technology and its impact towards the environment.

Your best advice for someone who is considering studying renewable electricity production?
– If you are a person looking for both theoretical and practical experience during your education, then this program will be a great choice for you. You will be working with many projects and will have study visits where you get the flavour of the real-life experience of job markets.

What’s the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The University has high-quality education with comprehensive libraries and well-equipped labs. Most of its faculty members have been around for a very long time and thus have structured most of the courses in a pretty decent way. The scope for quality research is also one of the best things the University has to offer.

Two quick questions:
What is your favourite place in Uppsala?
– It would probably be the Håga mound. If the weather is nice, I would go there for an evening walk and sit and watch the sunset.

What is the best student tradition at Uppsala University?
– Best student tradition I would say is the ‘Flogsta scream’ in the university student housing area Flogsta, where every night at 22:00, all the students come out to the balcony and scream their lungs out!
