General provisions
The course is given in semester 5 on the radiology technician programme.
Entry requirements
Passed courses up to semester 3 and 15 credits from semester 4, in total 105 credits.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to
1. Describe and explain pathological changes of adults and children in neuro- thorax, abdomen and musculoskeletal radiology
2. Recognise suspicious pathological changes in the images.
3. Recognize the most common pathological changes that are detected with imaging of children. Also recognize the methods that are used in different medical issues.
4. Describe and explain radiological handling and find the trauma with different degree of difficulty
5. Describe and explain the basic nuclear medicine methodology
6. Describe and explain different types of contrast media that are used in different studies. Also describe and explain how contrast media influences the images (advanced knowledge)
Content
Basic pathology in the central nerve system (brain, spinal cord), skull/face/throat, thorax, abdomen, back and extremities
Delimitation of pathological changes to plan imaging
Children diagnostic
Trauma diagnostic
Nuclear medicine
Contrast medium (specialisation).
Instruction
Lectures, seminars with image interpretations.
