Entry requirements
120 credits within the Master's Programme in Sociotechnical Systems Engineering. Electromagnetism and Power Engineering should have been attended.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- independently develop and analyse a technical system,
- identify the need for further knowledge in a given field of technology and independently search for and acquire new knowledge accordingly,
- independently and in groups identify, formulate and solve problems in a professional way,
- recognize and critically assess the work orally and in writing in English.
Specifically, the student should be able to:
- present an in-depth knowledge of, and ability to apply, one or more technical methods for the analysis and development of energy systems,
- apply sensitivity analyses for the analysis tools and assess the reliability of the results obtained.
Content
Course participants will study in a small group (2-4 persons) an energy system, in part or in whole. The analysis is done using a technical method, e.g. measurements, calculations and simulations. Students will also analyse how the chosen sub-system interacts with the remaining parts of the energy system.
Instruction
Seminars and group tutorials.
Student groups are asigned a supervisor from the University. Monitoring the progress of the project is done through regular contact with the supervisor, the submission of the project plan and report, and through participation in seminars.
Assessment
All projects are presented in a final seminar. Each project is asigned an opposing project. Examination takes place through active participation in the project, active participation in seminars, opposition and final report.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
