Entry requirements
120 credits including Markov Processes. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- give an account of issues of mathematical, statistical and economic nature that are important for the life insurance business;
- give an account of basic methods in the area of life insurance mathematics;
- carry out insurance calculations and interpret, asses and present results obtained.
Content
The probabilistic foundations for life insurance. Statistical analysis of life length and mortality. Calculation of premium and premium reserve. Other topics in basic life insurance.
Instruction
Lectures, problem solving sessions and computer-assisted laboratory work.
Assessment
Written and, possibly, oral examination at the end of the course. Compulsory assignments and laboratory work during the course.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
