Entry requirements

An undergraduate degree in physiotherapy corresponding to 180 credits, or an undergraduate degree in physiotherapy corresponding to 150 credits and 30 C-level credits in physiotherapy, including an independent project of 15 credits. Physiotherapy, Theory, 15 credits.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is that the student should obtain advanced knowledge, skills and judgement within research and development work by carrying out and presenting a scientific work within physiotherapy, independently and under supervision.

After completed course, the student should be able to:

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

1. Describe in detail for evidence and best practice and identify knowledge gaps within a specified field within physiotherapy

2. Account for and well-founded explain research design and method for specific issues

SKILLS AND ABILITY

3. Systematically search, analyse and integrate information within a field within physiotherapy

4. Independently collect/process and analyse data in a scientific work

5. In writing clearly present and orally defend a scientific work

6. on a deeper level review, evaluate and discuss own and others' scientific work at the equivalent level

EVALUATION ABILITY AND ATTITUDES

7. Make well-founded research-ethical considerations based on current guidelines

8. In detail relate the results in own and others' scientific work at corresponding level to clinical, social and ethical aspects

Content

The main content of the course is to carry out a scientific work within physiotherapy. The degree project is documented in writing and is defended orally at a seminar. In the course is also included to act as opponent to an other degree project.

Instruction

Teaching is given in the form of seminars and supervision individually or in groups.

Assessment

  • Mandatory attendance at seminars (goals 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6).
  • Approved written project plan / PM (goals 1, 2, 5, 6) and approved written thesis project (goals 1-8).
  • Approved opponents, respondents, project plan / PM and degree project (goal 6).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
