Participation in one of the courses Rotating Electrical Machines and Design of Electric Motors. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to:

  • estimate how, where and when electrification of pneumatic and hydraulic systems can take place,
  • describe and calculate how energy use can be reduced and compare energy efficiency in pneumatic and hydraulic systems,
  • calculate power and torque requirements and dimension components,
  • suggest solutions for electrification of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and show societal, environmental and ethical aspects for the suggested solution.

Content

Introduction to pneumatic and hydraulic systems for electric vehicles. Applications for production fascilities, forrestry, cranes and aircraft. Electrical engines, power electronics and components for pneumatic and hydraulic systems. System effectiveness and security in vehicles. Review relevant societal, environmental and ethical aspects.

Instruction

Lectures and laborations.

Assessment

Written exam and laborations.

If there are special reasons for doing so, the examiner may make exceptions from the specified examination method of assessment and allow a student to be assessed by another method.
