Biografi
Janne Holmen (f. 1977), fil.dr i historia. Holmén disputerade 2006 vid Uppsala universitet på en avhandling om hur Norges, Sveriges och Finlands olika utrikespolitiska positioner under kalla kriget påverkade hur USA och Sovjetunionen skildrades i ländernas läroböcker. År 2009 publicerade Holmén en rapport om hur den svenska tiden i Finlands historia behandlas i finländska läroböcker. Holmén har även forskat om regional identitet och regional historieskrivning på öar i Östersjön och om mentala kartor och historiesyn hos gymnasieelever i Östersjö- och Medelhavsområdena inom projektet "Spaces of Expectation". Han har också bedrivit komparativa studier av lärarutbildningens utveckling i Sverige och Finland. Inom projektet "Demokratins drivkrafter" har Holmén undersökt hur försöken att demokratisera samhället med hjälp av utbildning i Sverige och Finland har påverkats av de bägge ländernas politiska kulturer. Holmén har även undersökt reformer av högre utbildning i Sverige och Finland från 1960-talet till idag. För närvarande ägnar han sig åt ett internationellt komparativt projekt om hur det politiska systemet har framställts i diagramform i läroböcker i samhällskunskap för gymnasiet.
