Kort presentation

Dr. Thomas Kempen (PhD, pharmacist) is assistant professor of pharmaceutical care at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, and visiting researcher of social pharmacy at Uppsala University, Sweden. His current research focuses on the role of the pharmacist in primary care and transitions of care with a focus on pharmacist prescribing.

Forskning

Before his position at Utrecht University, he did a postdoc fellowship at Nivel, the Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research. He has previously worked as a clinical pharmacist at a primary care practice in Sweden and at Uppsala University Hospital, where he also did his PhD on medication reviews by clinical pharmacists in older hospitalised patients. He has previously been involved in an EU-funded research project about the management of polypharmacy and adherence in older patients.

Thomas is currently editorial board member of the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Early Career Researcher Advisory Board member of the International Collaboration of Pharmacy Journal Editors (ICPJE). He has served as general committee member (and treasurer) of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy 2022-2024.
