First- and second-cycle studies

  • 20 Bachelor's-level programmes (first cycle), 13 Master’s-level programmes (second cycle), and about 300 standalone courses per academic year (2022)
  • Approximately 5,800 students – the equivalent of about 2,000 full-time students
  • Slightly more than half the students study arts subjects, social sciences, law and art, while the remainder study science and technology.
  • Of the total number of full-time students, about 60 per cent study on campus in Visby largely on degree programmes, and about 43 per cent study via online learning, the majority on standalone courses.
  • Every year, about 250 students apply for the award of a qualification.
  • University degree courses that are only available at Campus Gotland: Game Design, Conservation, Energy Technology specialising in Wind Power/Wind Power Project Management and Sustainable Destination Development.

In addition to these, degree courses are given in the main areas of Archaeology, Ethnology, Business Studies, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and Human Geography.

Doctoral programmes and research

  • 30 doctoral students have their workplace at Uppsala University - Campus Gotland
  • Approximately 170 teachers/researchers
  • 11 professors
  • Approximately 150 scholarly publications annually
  • Research and doctoral studies account for about 25 per cent of Campus Gotland’s total assets.
  • About 50 per cent of the research is externally funded. This applies especially to research into conservation and wind power.
