Students at Campus Gotland

First- and second-cycle studies

  • 17 Bachelor's-level programmes (first cycle), 8 Master’s-level programmes (second cycle), and about 250 standalone courses per academic year (2024)
  • Approximately 5,000 students – the equivalent of about 1,800 full-time students
  • Slightly more than half the students study arts subjects, social sciences, law and art, while the remainder study science and technology.
  • Of the total number of full-time students, about 60 per cent study on campus in Visby largely on degree programmes, and about 43 per cent study via online learning, the majority on standalone courses.
  • Every year, about 250 students apply for the award of a qualification.
  • University degree courses that are only available at Campus Gotland: Game Design, Conservation, and Energy Technology specialising in Wind Power/Wind Power Project Management.

In addition to these, degree courses are given in the main areas of Archaeology, Business Studies and Human Geography.

Doctoral programmes and research

  • 30 doctoral students have their workplace at Uppsala University - Campus Gotland
  • Approximately 190 teachers/researchers
  • Approximately 150 scholarly publications annually
  • Research and doctoral studies account for about 30 per cent of Campus Gotland’s total assets.
  • About 50 per cent of the research is externally funded.
