Rekonstruktion – Psyket was created in the autumn of 2023 during Anna Odell’s artist‑in‑residence at the Centre for Medical Humanities, and the work has since been used, among other things, in teaching within the medical programme. The exhibition, which was first shown at Cecilia Hillström Gallery in Stockholm and later at Uppsala Art Museum, received very positive reviews and sparked a number of reflections on both the role of art and on psychiatry.
Since May 2025, the work has been permanently installed in a meeting pod next to the reception at the Biomedical Centre (BMC), where it is accessible to students, staff, and the general public.
The video work Rekonstruktion – Psyket was acquired by the Public Art Agency Sweden, and the meeting pod in which it is installed was purchased with support from Akademiska Hus and the Public Art Agency Sweden. The work was produced with support from Region Uppsala.
Information, öppettider och tillgänglighet
The doors at BMC are open from 07:30 to 17:00 on weekdays during spring and autumn terms. The meeting pod where Rekonstruktion – Psyket is installed is located next to the Reception in corridor B7 at BMC (Map). The doors that are open during these hours are C7, A4, A8 och A11. Students and staff with a UU-key card with BMC-access can enter also at other hours.
The video work is 67 minutes long and runs continuously during daytime hours. Inside the meeting pod, there is a button that allows you to restart the work when you arrive, or to start it if it is not already playing.
The video features Swedish spoken language with English subtitles.
The meeting pod has seating for approximately five people. The pod has a small level difference from the floor with a ramp. Inside the pod, there is space for one or two people using a wheelchair or powered wheelchair.
