Research at NCK

At the National Centre for Knowledge on Men’s Violence Against Women, research is conducted within the research group Gender-Related Violence and Health. The group focuses on men’s violence against women and domestic violence and abuse.
The National Centre for Knowledge on Men’s Violence Against Women conducts research on men’s violence against women and domestic violence and abuse from both health and social science perspectives. Many of the research projects are carried out in close collaboration with our clinic for women affected by violence and our support lines, in order to provide the best possible care and support to those affected.
The Research Group: Gender-Related Violence and Health
The research group Gender-Related Violence and Health, led by Professor Carolina Överlien, consists of postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students working at NCK. We also regularly host visiting researchers from other universities and guest researchers from around the world.
NCK’s largest research project in 2025–2028 is the population study Violence, Health, and Life Outcomes, led by Associate Professor Marcus Lindskog.
Research Analysis
In addition to conducting our own research, we collect and analyze research and practice-based knowledge in the field of men’s violence against women and domestic violence and abuse. We identify areas in need of further research and methodological development, and we collect, process, and disseminate knowledge from researchers and professionals in the field.

Research Network
NCK runs a research network focused on gender-based violence and domestic violence and abuse. The purpose of the network is to prevent fragmentation within the field and to identify both gaps and overlaps in the research being conducted across the country. Meetings are held at different universities and cover various themes.
