DeCiDE

Details
- Funder: The project is funded by the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, Uppsala University and U-CARE funded by the Swedish Research Council.
About DeCiDE
People with dementia are living longer in the community, and reliance on informal caregivers is increasing. Few studies have focused on the experiences, unmet needs, and intervention preferences of adult-daughter caregivers (caregiving daughters), who may have an increased risk of depression and lack of support compared with spousal caregivers.
Aim
The overall aim of the DeCiDE Project is to improve access to psychological support for caregiving daughters of a parent with dementia.
We are currently undertaking a series of qualitative studies to explore, from the perspective of caregiving daughters:
- Experiences of accessing and receiving formal and informal support in Sweden
- Challenges experienced providing informal care
- Preferences for support
Findings will be used to inform the development of a psychological intervention for caregiving daughters of a parent with dementia.
