BUP Master Thesis Training 2025
The BUP is pleased to announce the fourth edition of the Master Thesis Training (MTT). The event will take place on 24-27 March 2025 in Uppsala. The MTT is an opportunity for master students at BUP participating universities to come together in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment within the sphere of sustainability science. The event provides an opportunity for students to gain additional supervision from an expert on their thesis, develop connections with students from all around the Baltic Sea Region and become better acquainted with academic perspectives.
The event will accept participants from BUP participating universities who are studying towards a master's degree and are working on their thesis during the spring term of 2025. The content of the thesis should be within sustainability science and from a Baltic Sea Region perspective. The Master Thesis Training will be held with a main focus on-site in Uppsala.
Previous editions of the Master Thesis Training have been highly rated by those who participated, receiving a rating of 9.2/10 in both 2023 and 2024 with students remarking that the event was helpful for them in improving their thesis. Previous event reports including student voices can be found here: Event reports.
Objectives of the training
The objective is to provide master's students from BUP participating universities with the opportunity to meet and discuss scientific problems with a focus on sustainability in an interdisciplinary and regional context. This will help students to improve their thesis writing process, connect with other students in similar positions and familiarise themselves with the scientific traditions of other universities. Moreover, several aspects of thesis writing will be covered including language, citation, AI, helpful tools, procrastination, and mental health.

The MTT is free of charge for master students from BUP participating universities and all costs of accommodation, food and activities will be covered by the BUP. Students will be accommodated in shared hotel rooms with other participants.
All students must however cover their travel costs to and from Uppsala, Sweden.
There is no fee to take part in Master Thesis Training in Uppsala since your participation will be covered by The Baltic University Programme.
However, if you don't show up or cancel your participation with late notice, after 17 February 2025, we hold the right to charge you or your university department the cost of your participation (320 €).
