Climate impacts in a changing world 2026 – we are now accepting abstracts for the conference

From infrastructure and public health to forests and industry – the effects of climate change permeate all aspects of our lives. How do extreme climate events affect our communities, ecosystems and technical systems?

Next year, on 9–11 March, the conference Climate Impacts in a Changing World 2026 will be held. The conference will offer a unique meeting place where researchers, practitioners and decision-makers from around the world can meet across disciplinary boundaries. The focus will be on the effects of extreme climate events – and how we can understand, manage and adapt to them.

Abstracts for the conference can be submitted between 29 September 2025 and 2 November 2025. Abstracts that fit the conference theme will be accepted in the order in which they are submitted, until all places are filled.

What is the main purpose of the conference?

“Focusing on the effects of extreme climate events. Many fields of research study impacts of climate events from different perspectives, but there is no common forum where we can meet across disciplinary boundaries – and that is exactly what we want to create. It will involve researchers from the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and the humanities.”

The conference is about the effects of climate change. What effects and what kind of impact are we talking about?

“It's about the effects and impact that climate change has on all the systems around us: technical systems, social systems, natural systems. It can be anything from our infrastructure, the Earth's forests or our public health. The subject is broad.”

Who are you targeting?

“We are inviting researchers from all sectors, not just academia; everyone who works with adaptation, resilience, practitioners who work with disaster relief, for example, and not least industry, as there is also a lot of research there on climate damage, for example.”

Is it an international conference?

“Yes, we hope to attract participants from all over Europe and even further away.”
