Research at the Department of Electrical Engineering

Our department consists of four divisions that conduct exciting and important research in the fields of renewable energy sources, electromobility, industrial IoT, 5G/6G communication and wireless sensor networks, smart electronic sensors, and medical systems.

Our Divisions

Electricity

At the Division of Electricity, we study many different aspects of electricity and are a part of the important development towards a more sustainable future. We study everything from renewable electricity production, electricity distribution and energy storage systems, to electromobility, electric propulsion systems, diamond electronics, plasma technology and robot automation.

Networked Embedded Systems

The Division of Networked Embedded Systems conducts research on networking of all kinds of objects, from the tiniest sensors and actuators to more full-blown objects such as quadrocopters, in a reliable, secure and efficient way.

Signals and Systems

At the Division of Signals and Systems we study many different problems in signal processing, automatic control, machine learning and wireless communications. Examples include security for control systems, detection, harvesting based wireless sensor networks, vehicle platoons, machine learning, audio signal processing and 5G/6G communication.

Solid-State Electronics

At the Solid-State Electronics Division, we are part of the incredibly exciting development of semiconductor electronics and we explore new frontiers with unconventional ideas and intelligent solutions in order to revolutionise electronics and make it our life companion in all aspects.

Research centres

At the department we run and participate in several research centers and have many collaborations within and outside Uppsala University.
