About the Department of Electrical Engineering
Electrification and digitalization are among the largest areas for the conversion to sustainable societies. At the Department of Electrical Engineering, we conduct successful research and education in these areas and contribute to important technical energy, health, and social developments: mainly within the fields of renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, industrial IoT, 5G/6G communication, and wireless sensor networks, smart electronic sensors, and medical systems.
Our department was founded in 2020 and is made up of four divisions: Electricity, Networked Embedded Systems, Signals and Systems, and Solid-State Electronics. We are an international and diverse workplace with around 160 employees located at campus Ångström Laboratory, Uppsala university.
