Diamond Optics

Research and postgraduate training focusing on diamond optics for a wide range of applications, including micro- and nanostructuring of preferably (but not limited to) carbon-based materials.

Ångström Diamond Optics Group

The Ångström Diamond Optics Group is a part of the Division of Applied Materials Science at Uppsala University, and is headed by Associate Professor Mikael Karlsson.

Our group conducts research and graduate education focusing on Diamond Optics for a wide range of applications, including micro- and nanostructuring of preferentially (but not limited to) carbon based materials.

Our research in Diamond Optics is currently focused on applications within astronomy and life sciences. In these projects we use own developed advanced diamond micro- and nanostructuring techniques to fabricate diamond optical components working in the infrared wavelengths. We also have expertise in optical design and simulations.
