Elisabet Nielsen och Alexandra Teleki

The Faculty of Pharmacy congratulates Elisabet Nielsen and Alexandra Teleki at the Department of Pharmacy on receiving SEK 6 million from the Swedish Research Council for projects with focus on Individualized antibiotic treatment and Antibiotic-free wound dressings.

In a study published in The Lancet, an estimated 1.3 million people died in 2019 as a result of infections caused by resistant bacteria. This makes it one of the greatest threats to global public health, and in a new call, the Swedish Research Council grants SEK 80 million to 23 promising research projects with a focus on antimicrobial resistance.

Elisabet Nielsen, Professor of Clinical pharmacy, is awarded SEK 3.6 million for her project Individualized antibiotic treatment with the support of time-lapse microscopy, image analysis, machine learning and PKPD modelling. She will receive the grant in the years 2024–2026 to finance interdisciplinary research including Pharmaceutical sciences, Social pharmacy and Clinical pharmacy.

Alexandra Teleki, Associate Professor of Molecular pharmaceutics, is awarded SEK 2.4 million for her project Antibiotic-free and stimulus-responsive hybrid electrospun wound dressings, a work that will combine nanotechnology with biomaterials science and chemical processes.
