Now we empower even more students to explore their world

With the recruitment of two coordinators for international exchanges, the Faculty of Pharmacy continues to widen the window to the pharmaceutical world. “Interest in studying abroad is increasing, so now we are making it even easier for students to fulfill their dreams,” says Elin Lehnbom and Christina Wedén.
Every year, thousands of Swedish students choose to study at universities in other countries to explore new academic cultures and environments. Upon returning, they share experiences and friendships that last a lifetime. To further open the window to the pharmaceutical world, the Faculty of Pharmacy recently recruited two coordinators with the mission to take international exchanges to the next level.

Position Barcelona: Kareem Enayeh and Yorgi Sayegh
“Expanding personal and professional horizons is invaluable in our increasingly globalised world. We clearly see growing interest in conducting degree projects, exchanges, and work-based training abroad. Therefore, our faculty is taking a joint approach to lower the threshold for even more students to seize the opportunity to explore new horizons,” says Christina Wedén, Coordinator and Senior Lecturer.
Exchanges are central to our Faculty's international collaborations. This includes our membership in the ULLA consortium, giving teachers, PhD students and master's students the opportunity to visit a selection of Europe's leading pharmaceutical research institutes. We also have partnership agreements that enable exchanges at some of Europe's most prestigious universities and metropolises. Two who recently returned from a semester at the Universitat de Barcelona are Yorgi Sayegh and Kareem Enayeh:

Position Pharmen: New international students arriving
“We have experienced so much and met so many friends from across the world. During the day, we studied the Master's Program in Biomolecular Technology, whose incredibly cool structure increased our engagement with each lecture. In the evenings and weekends we enjoyed beach life at La Barceloneta, strolled along La Rambla and watched tons of football. We probably didn't miss a home match of FC Barcelona. This is a chance you only get once in a lifetime. So to those of you who are thinking about studying abroad, we just want to say: Dare to take the plunge, you will thank yourself!”
Currently, our faculty has students on three continents. Last week, the Pharmaceutical Student’s Union welcomed ten new guests from a range of European countries for a semester at Uppsala’s Biomedical Centre. And no matter the direction of the journey, everyone agrees: the exchange is an opportunity to grow as a person. Efforts are now intensifying to inspire even more students to take the leap.
“We actively inform our students about their many opportunities. At the Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy, our many international partnerships and the possibility to include studies abroad in a degree play a key role. In the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy, we see strong interest in digital international collaboration. Regardless of the path a student chooses, our mission is to create the space to follow it fully,” says Elin Lehnbom, Coordinator and Senior Lecturer.
