Individual Study Plan
The Higher Education Ordinance states that an individual study plan (ISP) must be drawn up for every doctoral student. This must be done jointly by the doctoral student and the supervisor. Third-cycle education is individual so the plan’s contents will be different for each doctoral student, even when they are studying the same subject.
Individual study plans are the most important tool for ensuring a structured approach to doctoral education. These plans must be registered and archived.
Doctoral students admitted before 2023 must revise the analogue study plan, while those admitted in 2023 or later must draw up and revise a digital ISP in Ladok.

In the Staff Gateway, you will find an interactive form for drawing up your individual study plan, if you have been admitted to the doctoral program before 2023.
Digital ISP
From 1 September 2025, the digital system in Ladok will be used to create and update individual study plans for all doctoral students admitted in 2023 or later.
