Page for regional and municipal services

In 2023, 13% of Swedish households were living with a low economic standard. When looking at child households, the figure is higher, with 17% living in households with a low economic standard.

Childhood exposure to conditions where household income does not cover basic necessities can have major consequences for children's health, development and participation in society. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of "Healthier Wealthier Families" (HWF), a service model that uses services that meet parents with children aged 0-5 as an entry point to link parents with municipal counselling services.

On this page you can read about what participation in the study means for each organization.

What does participation mean for services who meet parents with small children?

  • Asking two questions about finances to parents
  • Distribute the information material “Your child and your money” to interested parents
  • Refer parents who are eligible and interested to the municipal budget and debt counselling service
  • Have available information about budget and debt counselling

What does participation mean for the budget and debt advice service?

  • Receive referrals from organizations that meet parents with children aged 0-5 years
  • Explain the study and collect consent for participation
  • Go through the study survey questions at two occasions
  • Test a more preventive approach. A guide to working preventively has been created together with representatives from the budget and debt advice service
