Molecular Geriatrics
Our research is primarily focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind dementia diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. These diseases entail significant suffering for both patients and their families, as well as a considerable cost to society. Increased knowledge about what causes these diseases and how they spread in the brain enables the development of new methods for diagnosis and treatment.
Description
The Molecular Geriatrics research group consists of approximately 20 members who work at the Rudbeck Laboratory. The senior researchers Stina Syvänen, Anna Erlandsson, Dag Sehlin, and Wojciech Michno lead various research projects that are presented further down the page. Additionally, we collaborate closely with Vilmantas Giedraitis, who is affiliated with the Clinical Geriatrics research group.
