The Historical Collections
Gustavianum's historical collections contain scientific instruments, archaeological, historical and ethnological objects. Our archaeological collections include items from the ancient cultures of Egypt, the Mediterranean region and from the prehistoric Nordic region.
Where do the collections come from?
The collections have steadily grown since the founding of the university in the Middle Ages and continue today. Objects have been collected through donations, purchases, expeditions and excavations and are regulalry used in teaching and research.
Where are the collections?
Many of the objects from the collections are on display in Gustavianum. The collections are also available to researchers and students at the Historical Collections Store, at Villavägen 9.
