The University Art Collection
Uppsala University has one of the largest art collections in Sweden. On the second floor is a rich selection of the finest works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Here you will also find the famous Augsburg Art Cabinet, donated to Gustav II Adolf in 1632. Adjacent to the cabinet are hundreds of objects, curiosities, and natural history specimens that accompanied the cabinet from Germany to Sweden. The cabinet was donated to the university in 1694 and placed in the South Hall – where it remains today.
