Theses and dissertations – modern (after 1855)

Many modern theses are available in electronic form. This applies to theses in the natural sciences that are based on published research articles, known as compilation theses. This also applies to many theses in other fields.

Search for modern dissertations

  • The Library Search Tool – restrict to the material type "Dissertations" to find dissertations available in the Library.
  • Libris – limit to the material type "Thesis" to find dissertations in college and university libraries across Sweden.
  • DiVA – Digitala vetenskapliga arkivet – dissertations and other publications from mostly Swedish universities and colleges. Many of them are available in full text. You can restrict the search to theses.
  • SwePub – search for articles, conference contributions, theses, etc. in the publication databases of Swedish universities and colleges. Use SwePub to get an overview of what has been written in your research area.
  • Catalogue -1962 – contains some Swedish and Finnish dissertations in Uppsala University Library printed 1855–1962. The theses can only be searched by author name.
  • OAIster – dissertations and other publications that are freely available in full text from many colleges and universities around the world.
  • Dissertations & Theses (ProQuest) – references to dissertations from universities around the world from 1980 on, with detailed abstracts. Full text is available from 1997 and can be ordered online. The first 24 pages are open access.
