The VFS spring call is now open

Verification for collaboration (VFS in Swedish) is a funding opportunity to initiate new collaboration projects between researchers at Uppsala University and private, public or non-profit organisations.

The VFS programme offers an opportunity for researchers at Uppsala University and organisations from different sectors of society to develop collaboration around a challenge of common interest. The projects run for a maximum of nine months and can receive funding up to SEK 300,000. The call is open twice a year, spring and autumn.

VFS is intended to give experience of collaboration and allows both researchers and external parties to try out how collaborative research works and whether the two respective parties have enough in common to continue collaborating when the project ends. For example, to seek further funding.

Projects that receive funding within the VFS program can vary in scope and focus, but must always be of mutual benefit to the parties. Research collaborations between universities are not funded within the framework of VFS.

VFS in short

  • A VFS project runs for a maximum of nine months and can be granted funding up to SEK 300,000.
  • But VFS is more than just a funding form: With support from the collaboration managers at the Division for Research and Partnership Support, the VFS funding allows researchers and external parties to try out both how collaborative research works and whether the two respective parties have enough in common to continue collaborating when the project ends, for example to seek further funding.
  • Applying for VFS funds is always done in consultation with a collaboration manager at the Division for Research and Partnership Support. The Division for Research and Partnership Support provide feedback on the application, ensuring it meets the basic requirements.
