Consultation
Considering the large number of eager and motivated students and teachers that meet every term in order to arrange stimulating teaching and learning activities, it is important to be able to offer broad and flexible support so that teachers can meet the challenges of arranging such learning activities and to advance teaching.
The Unit of Academic Teaching and Learning can provide consultative support in several areas and multiple ways, everything from short-term efforts in the form of presentations to workshop series or specially tailored courses. Educational developers can attend teacher-training days or kick-offs at departments and provide personal consultation when needed. The Units consultant staff prefers to work closely with educational leaders at faculties and departments in order to implement and evaluate long-term educational efforts and developmental projects.
In most cases consultations are free of charge for Uppsala University employees.
As a parallel option to the regular course assortment and shorter consultation activities the unit for Academic Teaching and Learning offering a flexible form of teacher training program, Adaptable educational development training (AKU).
This provides the possibility to acquire formal and documented merits as a teacher in higher education based on national guidelines in a training format which is developed in co-operation with a department or constellation of departments. The training can thus be adapted to specific requirements and the teacher´s perceived competence development needs.
AKU:s can for example focus on specific themes such as blended learning strategies, inclusive teaching and assessment and is arranged at a venue and format that suits the department´s and teachers requirements.
