Chemical safety officers

Many different types of gases and chemicals are handled in the Ångström laboratory. Each department/unit has a chemical safety officer who, among other things, registers their department's possession of chemicals and ensures that guidelines and routines regarding the handling of chemicals are followed.

Incidents with chemicals or gases

Should an incident with chemicals or gases occur where there may be danger to life, property or the environment, you must immediately

• press the alarm button
• warn others
• evacuate the workplace
• call 112.

In the event of an incident with chemicals or gases where there is no suspected danger to life, property or the environment you should contact your institution/unit's chemical safety officer. If you are a student, please contact the person responsible for the laboratory at the institution to which you belong. She/he has access to protective/cleaning equipment and knows what measures need to be taken.
