About the course
This introductory course provides an understanding of breakthroughs in molecular biology and discusses their social impacts. We start with the history of basic molecular biological principles and genetic engineering. In laboratory sessions, participants prepare DNA, purify bacteria and karyotype chromosomes. Topics presented are: Scientific hypotheses, DNA structure and function, Phage therapy, CRISPR editing, Xenotransplantation, Stem cell therapy, CAR-T cell cancer therapy, and a symposium on current topics chosen by the students.
