What is covered in your fees?

There are other possiblities and potential restrictions you need to be aware of when paying for your tuition fees.

The tuition fee covers 30 ECTS credits per semester within your programme. The tuition fee does not cover other costs such as accommodation, meals or study materials.

It is not possible to use remaining fees for other semesters, so you need to ensure you are registered for 30 credits per semester. If you wish to take extra courses, you need to pay for those separately.

When we have received the full tuition fee, it will then be possible to register for your courses if the registration period is open.

If you remain registered three weeks after the start of your chosen course, your tuition fee has been used and cannot be redeemed for any another course. To change to another course, you will need to discontinue the course in Ladok before these three weeks.

As a fee-paying student you are welcome to apply for extra courses outside of the 30 ECTS programme courses, however these must be paid separately. Before applying for extra courses, please ensure that you have the time, and that there are no other scheduling conflicts with your ordinary classes. If you do wish to apply for an extra course, the instructions for how to do this are as follows:

  1. Apply for the course at universityadmissions.se. Remember to apply as a free-standing course outside of your programme, as the fee will not be covered by your programme tuition fee.
  2. Once you are admitted, contact feemaster@uu.se to generate an invoice for this course
  3. We will issue an invoice, and let you know via e-mail when it is available at student.ladok.se
  4. Pay the invoice as soon as possible to ensure that you do not miss the course registration.

Remember to read our refund policy before paying.

If you have previously obtained credits which can be used in your degree, it might be possible to pay a reduced tuition fee for your last semester. Please contact your programme coordinator and the tuition fee coordinators (feemaster@uu.se) to discuss your options.

You are not required to pay the tuition fee during an approved study leave, but you should inform the Swedish Migration Agency that you will not be studying. If you wish to apply for a leave of absence, please contact your department.

It may be possible to take part in exchange courses during your time at Uppsala University. Contact your department to find out if your programme offers exchange opportunities. You will still pay your regular tuition fee for the duration of the exchange.
