Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree with a language subject as the main field of study. Hebrew: A Semitic Language. Proficiency in Swedish and English equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle (Bachelor's level) studies.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, to earn the grade Pass the student should at least be able to:

With respect to module 1: Biblical Hebrew prose and poetry Carry out a comparative special study of the Hebrew linguistic structure against the background of other Semitic languages as stated in the learning outcomes for the module Biblical Hebrew prose and poetry within Hebrew B1.

With respect to module 2: Post-biblical Hebrew texts as stated in the learning outcomes for the module Post-biblical Hebrew texts within Hebrew B1.

With respect to module 3: 5LN232 Functional Grammar I as stated in the learning outcomes for the module Functional Grammar I within Hebrew B1.

Content

Biblical Hebrew prose and poetry, 5 credits

Post-biblical Hebrew texts, 5 credits

Functional Grammar I, 5 credits

Instruction

Instruction consists of lectures, workshops and assessment.

The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.

Assessment

The students show the results of their learning through oral and written examns. Information regarding assessment will be announced at the beginning of the course.

To receive the grade Pass with distinction, Pass with distinction in at least two of the included modules is required.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
