Kort presentation
Professor i metallers och metallytors fysik. Utnyttjar synkrotronljusbaserade tekniker, såsom elektronspektroskopi och röntgenabsorptionsspektroskopi sin forskning.
Biografi
Efter gymnasiet i Falun läste jag teknisk fysik i Uppsala. 1980 doktorerade jag i Kai Siergbahns grupp i Uppsala med avhandlingen “Atomic, Molecular and Solid State Effects in Photoelectron Spectroscopy”. Efter detta arbetade jag alltmer med synkrotronljus, först vid Tantalus, Madison, Wisconsin och sedan främst vid MAX-lab i Lund. År 1989 blev jag professor vid Fysiska institutionen i Uppsala. Forskningen har varit inriktad mot elektronstrukturen hos övergångsmetaller, kluster, fullerener och grafén liksom olika typer av adsorbatsystem.
Åren 1997 till 2010 var jag föreståndare för det nationella synkrotronljuslaboratoriet MAX-lab i Lund. Under denna tid definierades och startades MAX IV projektet. Efter 2011 har min forskning främst varit inriktad mot elektronstrukturstudier med hjälp av högupplösande "time-of-flight” elektronspektroskopi (ARTOF). Då denna teknik kräver en speciell tidsstruktur hos synkrotronljuset bedrivs denna verksamhet vid BESSY II anläggningen vid Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB).
