Relevance for my discipline or department?

SuHRFs ambition is to bring together disciplines and researchers, at Campus Gotland, which traditionally neither work together nor include questions related to cultural heritage and sustainability in their research. Below we present some examples on how cultural heritage and sustainability can relate to your discipline as well as some areas that would be interesting for further research.

Game and gaming as cultural heritage, exhibition and visualization technics, knowledge mediation through games, conservation of digitally created material, historic settings in games.

Business economics

Visitor and destination development, cultural heritage as economic resource, historic business – commodities and production, circular economy and adaptive reuse.

Earth science

Interfaces and conflicts between natural and cultural resources, promoting biological diversity, climate change impact on biological degradation mechanisms, species spread impact on cultural environments, green heritage, life cycle analysis and material impact.

Sustainable destination development

Cultural sustainability in visitor development, management of natural and cultural resources, destination development in relation to world heritage and other historical environments.

Ethnology

Diversity and inclusion, identity formation, sustainable perspectives in tourism, political impact on the selection of cultural heritage.

Wind energy

Sustainability and conservation of cultural landscape, the energy transition - possibilities and risks for conservation areas, renewable energy in historic environments.

Informatics and media

Webb- and database management for museums and cultural heritage institutions, linked data, crowdsourcing and citizen science, digital humanities.

Archaeology and osteology

Cultural landscape and prehistoric land use, find- and object handling, conservation and collection management, sustainable community planning and exploitation.

Law

Cultural property legislation, land rights, energy transitions in conservation areas, repatriation and trade in cultural goods.

Gender studies

Representation and power in museum and society, participation and access.

Cultural geography

Designed living environment, sustainability and preservation of cultural landscapes, fairness issues, community planning, land rights, cultural property legislation, natural and cultural resources.
