Ylva Söderfeldt becomes professor at Uppsala University

The Vice-Chancellor of Uppsala University has promoted Ylva Söderfeldt, Director of the Centre for Medical Humanities, to Professor of History of Science and Ideas, effective December 1, 2025.

Her research explores the relationship between expert knowledge and experiential knowledge, focusing on how patient organizations and individuals regarded as “others” shape medical knowledge and practice.

She has been a key actor in establishing the field of medical humanities at Uppsala University and the Nordic context.
