National Centres

The Baltic University Programme has ten National Centres, each under the leadership of a Centre Director. The National Centre is the main point of contact for teachers, staff, researchers and students in the respective country. The Centre Directors gather twice a year to discuss and coordinate their activities.

Each National Centre hosts at least one national meeting annually with the BUP participating universities in their country. The National Centres also host a BUP Presidency for six months according to a rotating schedule. The presidency was introduced in order to decentralise and share responsibilities with the centre and by this establish a formal platform for them to influence the organisation in practice. The holder of the BUP Presidency is responsible for the content and arrangement of some of the BUP's annual events, as well as promotion of the BUP in their own country, along with additional events and activities aimed at strengthening the programme in the country and the region as a whole.
