The BUP Finnish National Centre is located at Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU) in Turku. The university is a Swedish-language university in Finland. ÅAU has four faculties: the Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology; the Faculty of Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Education and Welfare studies, and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Business and Economics, and Law. The two campuses are situated in Turku/Åbo and Vaasa/Vasa, with 300 km in between. ÅAU is a small university with about 5500 students and 1000 staff.

Åbo Akademi University has been part of the BUP since the beginning, and also hosts one of three Associated Secretariats. Within the BUP ÅAU focuses on ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) and activities for teachers in higher education.

The centre is under leadership of Centre Director Cecilia Lundberg.
