Ken Mattson and Gustav Eriksson honoured for groundbreaking innovation

Ken Mattsson, a professor at the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University, together with his research colleague Gustav Eriksson, PhD, has developed SoundSim360, an advanced computational model for sound simulation.

Ken Mattsson and Gustav Eriksson have developed SoundSim360, an advanced sound simulation tool that uses cutting-edge numerical methods to accurately predict sound propagation over large areas.

After 25 years of research on numerical algorithms, they have created a model that accurately takes into account physical conditions such as the influence of the atmosphere and the characteristics of the terrain. This makes it possible to accurately simulate how sound propagates over large areas, including low-frequency sounds such as infrasound.

SoundSim360 has many potential applications, such as in wind farms, transport infrastructure, impulse noise and indoor acoustics. With support from UU Invest AB, the project now aims to commercialise the technology and take important steps towards the market.

The talented duo also won VentureChallenge 2024.
