The group works primarily on the preparation, development and fundamental study of retina-inspired, ultrahigh-resolution reflective display technologies operating at the limits of human visual perception.
Retina E-paper
Our group develops next-generation display technologies at the fundamental limits of human vision. Drawing inspiration from the human retina, we design and study ultrahigh-resolution reflective displays with submicrometer pixels whose optical states can be electrically controlled. By engineering nanoscale materials and pixel architectures, we overcome key limitations of conventional light-emitting displays, such as brightness loss and colour crosstalk at extreme pixel densities. Our work on retina electronic paper demonstrates that displays matching the resolution of the human eye are within reach, opening new opportunities for virtual and augmented reality, compact wearable devices, and energy-efficient visual interfaces.
More broadly, we aim to bridge nanophotonics, materials science, and device physics to blur the boundary between real and virtual worlds.
