Göran Alderborn winner of the Gunnar Källrot Award 2025
The Faculty of Pharmacy congratulates Professor em. Göran Alderborn on being awarded the Gunnar Källrot Scholarship 2025 by the IF Foundation for Pharmaceutical Research for his “solid achievements in pharmaceutical technology and committed leadership that has contributed to the development of Swedish pharmacy”.
The Faculty congratulates Professor em. Göran Alderborn, who Thursday 16 October accepted the Gunnar Källrot Scholarship 2025 at a ceremony at the Swedish Pharmaceutical Society. The motivation for the award highlights Göran’s “solid achievements in pharmaceutical technology, in particular his research on compaction and particle technology, and long-standing and committed leadership that has contributed to the development of Swedish pharmacy and drug development”.

“I am equally happy and honored to receive this award that recognizes both scientific achievements and leadership throughout an entire career. Furthermore, receiving the prize on such a pleasant evening in the company of both former and current colleagues adds an extra silver lining to the award, states Göran Alderborn, who also offered the lecture On pills and tablets – Particle agglomeration in practice and theory at the prize ceremony.
During his close to 50 years at Uppsala University, Göran Alderborn has conducted both research of great scientific importance and several successful terms of office in the academy management: As Head of department, he in 2001 led the reorganised Department of Pharmacy. As Deputy Vice-Rector, he led the work to create incentives for promising junior researchers. As Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Göran laid the foundation for today's Testa Center and SciLifeLab’s Drug Discovery and Development Platform. Among Göran's many valuable contributions we must also mention his tenure as leader of the Swedish Drug Delivery Forum, which today lives on as SweDeliver.
– I have had amazing years at the Faculty of Pharmacy. As I look back, I see a professional life that I could not even imagine the day I enrolled as a student at the Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy. Today, I maintain my ties to the faculty as supervisor of a PhD student and in research based on a compression simulator we have installed in collaboration with French company MEDELPHARM, and to continue my involvement in the role of emeritus suits me absolutely perfect, states Göran Alderborn.

- The Gunnar Källrot Award is presented every four years by the IF Foundation for Pharmaceutical Research.
- The prize was established in 1971 to commemorate Gunnar Källrot's significant contributions to the pharmacy system and the District Laboratories Interest Association.
