In this project we performed a survey of patients with Hodgkin lymphoma in Sweden during 25 years, an immunohistochemistry analysis of the micro environment around the tumor cells related to clinical parameters, a comparison of treatments outcomes in children/ young adults in Sweden and Denmark, and an analysis of the health care use after treatment.

Ljungman is the Swedish PI for an international soft tissue sarcoma study and collaborates in a number of different studies where different aspects of diagnostics, treatment and follow-up are evaluated for a large number of different soft tissue sarcomas often within the frame of RCTs.

In preclinical models with xenografts, i.e. PDX or cell-lines, mice with implanted brain tumors can be treated with chemo- and/or radiotherapy or other novel targeted treatment to later be evaluated with CT, PET, MRI etc. The goal is that this information together with clinical information, with among other things sequenced tumor material, will lead to suggestions for individualized treatment.

The majority of Swedish young people report that they are in good health, despite an increase in psychosomatic disorders. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to let the adolescents themselves develop a proposal for a new intervention based entirely on their experiences, so-called “experience-based co-design”. Thereafter, this "new" intervention will be tested and evaluated.

Many children live with parents who have a serious physical or mental illness. There is a knowledge gap about children as relatives, especially when it comes to early, basic interventions for all children. The research project is about detecting and helping the children who need support at an early stage. The first phase ("See Me"), will be to identify the children whose parents are physically ill. The second phase ("Talk to Me"), will provide and evaluate the care, information and support offered to children.
